A student's language skills -- reading, writing, listening, speaking and literature awareness and appreciation -- develop sequentially throughout the entire educational experience.

The normal progression through school is 13 years, (K - 12). However, few students receive their entire educational experience in one instructional setting or school system. Thus, enormous gaps may exist in the quality, consistency and/or continuity of learning experiences to develop the students listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities as assessed by the new state standards and examinations and,

The SSD/APIAP was developed to address an avalanche of concerns regarding the results of 
tests administered locally, statewide, and nationwide which indicate that large numbers of our children do not read and write well enough to succeed in their general studies or in non-school activities requiring those language skills. These test results are confirmed by reports from teachers, administrators, parents, employers and institutions of government.
 

The Sequential Skills Development Series in the English Language Arts, Pre-k to 13 and Adult and Continuing Education, conforms to all five spirals of English Language Arts curricula and may be used jointly by parents, teachers and administrators to prepare students for not only their promotional and competency examinations, but for the SAT, ACT, GRE  and lifetime learning as well.
