Parental Involvement Initiative
is specifically
designed to build the parents’ capacity to improve
their children’s learning in the home and in
the school by providing:
- A computerized
diagnostic assessment of your child’s language
skills development, particularly vocabulary, levels
Pre-K - 12,
Words
are the building blocks of language and the thought
process.
Standardized test publishers, for example, devote
some 50 percent of their reading tests to measures
of word knowledge.
In the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (verbal,
required for admission to many institutions of
higher learning, over 70 percent of the questions
on the test measure some aspect of facility with
words.
- Diagnostic/prescriptive
language skills development kits to provide students
with comprehensive language skills development experiences
and activities, levels Pre-K - 12.
- Cumulative
record cards listing those basic and advanced reading
and writing skills educational authorities consider
essential to become a successful learner.
- Quarterly
monitoring of the extent to which students have
mastered the learnings presented.
- Graded
suggested contemporary and great works of literature
reading lists, levels Pre-K - 13.
- A basis
for cooperative involvement with your child’s
teacher and the development of his or her instructional
